18/19 July 2009
Went to the festival with Sam, Lisa, Frank, Gary, Nikki, Andrew. Was really fun. Didn’t really see much of Duran though. We were in the back stage bar area and Simon came and had a chat and had photos done with a few of us. The best bit of the day was meeting Mark Ronson. I have never felt nervous before about meeting any celebrities but my legs were really shaking! He was such a lovely man. Really polite and courteous. MAJOR CRUSH.
Also chatted to Florence from Florence and the Machine. She was so nice. Sam and I were looking at the clothes racks with her – they had racks of free clothes for the celebrities! Nice eh? Another nice man was Farrell Williams. Lisa really wanted a pic with him but his people weren’t having any of it but Farrell said ‘yeah sure’ and let it happen.
Met up with Duran whilst they were doing some kind of meet and greet. Briefly chatted and had a pic done. Duran’s set was really good. Again I never took note of the set list. Simon looked like he was at a funeral – frock coat and top hat! Was a fun day.
NOTES ABOUT THIS ENTRY
Where this festival took place was a literal stones throw from my childhood home. Right opposite Victoria Park is where I left my front door and went all over London and beyond going to see Duran. When I move away guess what happens? Duran come to my back yard!!! Where the stage stood was near enough the exact same spot that my primary school held our sports days. Yards away from that was the Local Lido swimming pool (now demolished) where I spent my summers before I got the Duran bug. Now Duran (and many other acts of course) were playing, right where I used to walk my dog, climb trees and hang out. Strange to say the least.
I think this was the only time I saw Duran that year. I have no other entries for 2009. This was a lovely day out though. It was a sunny day, I was with a whole bunch of old friends and we had a blast all day long. That is it really!
(Please note that I will no longer post pictures on my blog. I don’t mind people using them on their blogs as long as a credit is given but sadly credits never are. So my blogs will now be picture-less!)
